About the Organization
Tamra for Social Development Organization (TSD) is a local Civil Society Organization established in 1998. TSD operates across Addis Ababa, Oromia, Sidama, Central, and Southern Ethiopia, focusing on youth empowerment, peace building, gender development, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), climate justice, and sustainable livelihoods.
Position Summary
The Youth Empowerment and Peace Building Thematic Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of youth empowerment and peacebuilding projects within TSD. The position holder will coordinate field activities, engage youth networks and peace structures, manage project resources, facilitate capacity-building initiatives, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and contribute to the successful achievement of project objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of projects aligning with TSD's mission and strategic goals.
- Develop detailed work plans, timelines, and budgets for thematic project activities in collaboration with project managers.
- Conduct needs assessments to inform project design and ensure relevance to target youth and community populations.
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of youth empowerment and peacebuilding activities, ensuring timely and budget-compliant execution.
- Ensure effective allocation and utilization of resources, including staff, materials, and finances.
- Manage logistics for project activities, including arranging venues, transportation, and equipment.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community leaders, peace committees, government agencies, and partner CSOs.
- Assist in collecting quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation data, tracking project progress using established indicators.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Implement quality assurance measures and feedback mechanisms to enhance project quality and beneficiary relevance.
- Monitor project budgets and track expenditures to ensure financial alignment, transparency, and accountability.
- Identify training needs and coordinate capacity-building initiatives on peacebuilding and conflict transformation for staff, youth, and community partners.
- Identify potential project risks and develop contingency plans to ensure project continuity.
- Document and share best practices, success stories, and lessons learned to inform future project design.
- Execute other related tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Peace and Security Studies, Development Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Political Science, or related fields.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience for Bachelor's degree holders, or 1 to 5 years for Master's degree holders, in youth empowerment, conflict resolution, or peacebuilding projects within an NGO/CSO setting.
- Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, stakeholder engagement, and youth program implementation.
- Strong skills in project planning, report writing, data collection, and basic budget tracking.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and training facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Language: Fluency in English and Amharic is required; knowledge of Afaan Oromo and other local languages in TSD operational areas is strongly preferred.
