Job Description

Sky Gate Duty Free PLC is a newly established travel retail company with a vision to become one of the leading duty-free retail operators in Ethiopia and across the region.

Our operations require efficient, accurate, and secure management of imported and locally sourced products in a fast-paced airport duty-free environment. We are looking for a highly capable Warehouse Manager who can lead warehouse operations, maintain excellent inventory accuracy, and ensure the timely availability of products for our duty-free retail business.
JOB SUMMARY

The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the overall management and control of Sky Gate Duty Free's warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, replenishment, dispatch, warehouse team management, logistics coordination, and warehouse systems.

The successful candidate will ensure that duty-free merchandise is handled, stored, recorded, and delivered efficiently while maintaining high standards of inventory accuracy, product security, quality, safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

  • Manage and oversee all day-to-day warehouse activities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement effective warehouse procedures for receiving, storage, picking, replenishment, dispatch, and returns.
  • Ensure products are properly received, inspected, counted, labeled, stored, and recorded.
  • Optimize warehouse layout, storage capacity, product flow, and space utilization.
  • Ensure appropriate handling and storage of fragile, high-value, sensitive, and special-care products.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and organization throughout the warehouse.

Inventory Management & Control

  • Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and minimize stock discrepancies.
  • Establish and monitor effective stock control procedures.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, stock audits, and physical inventory reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances promptly.
  • Monitor stock movement, aging inventory, damaged goods, and slow-moving items.
  • Coordinate closely with Commercial, Import, Finance, and Retail teams to ensure product availability.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updating of inventory transactions in the ERP system.

Import, Receiving & Logistics

  • Coordinate the receiving of imported and locally procured goods.
  • Work closely with the Import and Logistics teams to plan and manage incoming shipments.
  • Verify quantities, documentation, product condition, and system records during receiving.
  • Coordinate timely movement of products from the warehouse to duty-free retail outlets.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve operational delays.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all warehouse movements and dispatches.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and develop the warehouse team.
  • Prepare work schedules and allocate responsibilities according to operational requirements.
  • Monitor employee productivity, attendance, discipline, and performance.
  • Provide training on warehouse procedures, inventory control, product handling, safety, and security.
  • Establish clear performance standards and ensure accountability within the team.

Systems, Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure effective use of the company's ERP/Warehouse Management System.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Operations Management, or a related field from a recognized university.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in warehouse, logistics, supply chain, distribution, or retail operations.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in retail, FMCG, distribution, travel retail, duty-free, or a similar fast-paced environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing inventory and warehouse teams is required.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management and inventory control principles.
  • Experience working with ERP/Warehouse Management Systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and reporting.
  • Understanding of receiving, put-away, picking, replenishment, dispatch, stock counting, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of product handling, storage standards, and warehouse safety procedures.
