Technical Research Assistant – Tourism & Hospitality Research
Organization: Gudina Tumsa Foundation (GTF)
Contract Duration: 2 Months (with possibility of extension based upon performance)
Employment Type: Full Time
Position Summary
GTF is seeking a qualified Technical Research Assistant to conduct a rapid assessment of Ethiopia's tourism and hospitality sector. The research will support the development of GTF's Hospitality Training Initiative, including its planned collaboration with other training institutions in Ethiopia and the long-term establishment of GTF's own training school.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on Ethiopia's tourism and hospitality sector, including current opportunities, challenges, and workforce needs.
- Identify skills and training gaps within the hospitality industry.
- Assess existing tourism and hospitality training institutions and curricula.
- Conduct consultations with hotels, restaurants, training institutions, students, government stakeholders, and other relevant actors.
- Identify potential industry and institutional partnerships.
- Analyze findings and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations.
- Prepare a concise final report and presentation of key findings.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred or bachelors in Tourism/Hospitality or Business or Economics or Education, or Research, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant research or professional experience.
- Strong mastery of both spoken and written English
- Strong research, analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Experience conducting interviews, surveys, or stakeholder consultations.
- Experience in tourism and hospitality is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Ethiopia's tourism and hospitality sector is an advantage.
