Job Summary
The Technical Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Clinical Simulation Center at the College of Health Sciences, AAU. This position ensures that the center runs smoothly, remains well- maintained, and continues to grow as a hub for hands-on clinical training. The role supports high-quality training across all health disciplines, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and other health sciences programs. The Technical Assistant ensures that all simulation equipment, skills stations, and learning spaces are ready, safe, and effective for both teaching and assessment..
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in any Health Science disciplines
Candidates with certification or training in clinical simulation technology will be prioritized.
Experience:

Candidates with experience in clinical skills labs, simulation centers, or hospital training environments will be prioritized.

Working Conditions
Primarily based in the Clinical Simulation Center at the College of Health Sciences, AAU
May occasionally work evenings or weekends for exams or special training sessions
Some physical activity involved, such as moving mannequins and equipment
Duties and Responsibilities
Simulation Center Setup and Operations
Prepare simulation labs and skills stations for scheduled teaching sessions, OSCES, workshops, and examinations.
Set up mannequins, task trainers, IV arms, airway models, patient monitors, and other simulation tools for a variety of health disciplines.
Arrange simulation spaces to replicate real hospital and clinical environments for different training programs.
Ensure all consumables and training materials are stocked and available when needed. Pleats
Equipment Handling and Maintenance
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation and clinical training equipment, including:
High-fidelity and low-fidelity mannequins
Task trainers and part-task models
Patient monitoring systems
Defibrillators, ventilators, and suction machines (training models)
Audio-visual and debriefing systems
Perform routine equipment checks, calibration, minor repairs and preventive maintenance.
Keep accurate records of equipment and consumables.
Support to Faculty and Students
Provide technical support during simulation sessions, OSCES/ OSPES, and other practical exams.
Assist faculty and trainers in operating simulation tools and running clinical scenarios
Guide students in the safe and correct use of simulation equipment to practice clinical skills.
Ensure all sessions proceed smoothly without technical interruptions
Scenario and Lab Development
Help develop, update, and organize simulation scenarios, skills checklists, and lab manuals.
Support the creation of new skills stations for different health disciplines at the College.
Assist with introducing and integrating new simulation technologies and models.
Safety, Infection Control and Compliance
Ensure that all simulation equipment, mannequins, and consumables are cleaned, disinfected, and stored safely.
Follow infection control procedures and laboratory safety standards.
Maintain compliance with AAU policies and any accreditation requirements
Inventory and Documentation
Track the usage and maintenance of all simulation equipment. Maintain inventory records for consumables and request replenishment as needed.
Assist in procurement and budget planning for lab resources.
Prepare reports on lab usage, equipment maintenance, and feedback from students and faculty.
