Sound Technician

Job Summary

The Sound Engineer is responsible for managing all audio-related activities across event production, video production, recording, editing, mixing, post-production, voice-over, music, and jingle production.

The position requires the ability to capture clean, high-quality audio during shoots and events, operate professional sound equipment, and produce polished audio content for commercials, social media content, corporate videos, events, and jingles.

The Sound Engineer must work closely with producers, directors, video editors, creative teams, musicians, voice-over artists, and clients to ensure professional audio quality from recording through final delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

Production / Live Recording

• Set up and operate microphones, mixers, recorders, wireless microphone systems, speakers, and other audio equipment.

• Provide professional audio recording for video shoots, interviews, commercials, documentaries, events, and promotional productions.

• Conduct sound checks before productions and events.

• Select and position appropriate microphones according to the recording environment.

• Monitor audio levels during recording and prevent distortion, clipping, excessive noise, and unwanted feedback.

• Record dialogue, interviews, voice-over, ambience, sound effects, and other required audio.

• Maintain backup recordings whenever necessary.

• Coordinate with the camera, lighting, stage, and production teams during shoots and events.

• Troubleshoot audio problems quickly during live productions.

Post-Production Audio

• Edit and clean recorded audio for video and media productions.

• Remove unwanted background noise, hum, clicks, distortion, and other audio problems.

• Synchronize recorded audio with video footage.

• Perform dialogue editing and audio restoration.

• Mix dialogue, music, sound effects, ambience, and other audio elements.

• Apply EQ, compression, reverb, noise reduction, and other appropriate processing.

• Prepare final audio mixes according to production requirements.

• Ensure consistent volume and professional sound quality across the final production.

• Deliver audio in the required formats and specifications.

Jingle & Commercial Audio Production

• Produce and edit commercial jingles for clients, brands, campaigns, and events.

• Record and edit vocals for jingles.

• Work with singers, voice-over artists, musicians, composers, and creative teams.

• Arrange and mix music, vocals, sound effects, and voice-over.

• Create short promotional audio for radio, TV, social media, events, and digital campaigns.

• Assist in developing original sound identities and audio branding.

• Make revisions based on creative direction and client feedback.

• Prepare final mastered jingles for broadcast and digital platforms.

Voice-Over & Recording

• Set up recording sessions for voice-over artists, presenters, singers, and other talent.

• Manage recording levels and microphone technique.

• Guide talent regarding microphone positioning and recording quality when necessary.

• Edit and clean voice recordings.

• Mix voice-over with music and sound effects.

• Maintain organized recording files and project sessions.

Music & Sound Design

• Assist in selecting appropriate music and sound effects for productions.

• Create or edit sound effects and background ambience.

• Perform basic sound design for commercials, event videos, promotional videos, and social media content.

• Ensure music and audio elements are properly synchronized with visual content.

• Maintain an organized library of approved sound effects, music, and production audio.
