Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY
The Sewing Lead directs the sewing unit's daily work, ensuring garments (uniforms, protective wear, corporate apparel) are stitched to specification, on schedule, and to Lula's quality standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assign sewing tasks and machine stations to operators based on the daily production plan.
- Check garment construction against specifications (seams, sizing, stitching quality).
- Monitor machine performance and coordinate basic maintenance or repairs.
- Track sewing output and flag delays or bottlenecks to the Production Supervisor.
- Train new sewing operators and helpers on techniques and standards.
- Ensure fabric and trims are used efficiently to minimize waste.
- Maintain a safe and organized sewing work area.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Certificate/Diploma in Garment Making, Tailoring, or related field, or extensive hands-on sewing experience.
- 3+ years of industrial sewing experience, including some lead/supervisory experience.
- Skilled across multiple garment types (uniforms, workwear, apparel).
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong technical sewing skills and eye for construction quality.
- Able to coach and correct operators effectively.
- Good pacesetting and workflow management.
