 Position: Senior Transit & Customs Clearing Officer

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Employment Type: Full-time

 Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Senior Transit & Customs Clearing Officer to manage customs clearance procedures, oversee import documentation, and coordinate transit activities to ensure efficient and timely cargo clearance.

 Key Responsibilities

• Manage customs clearance procedures for imported vehicles and commercial goods.

• Prepare, review, and verify customs declarations, invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, import permits, and other relevant documents.

• Coordinate with customs authorities, shipping lines, dry ports, banks, and transport providers.

• Follow up on customs assessments, duties, taxes, cargo release, and delivery.

• Ensure compliance with applicable customs laws and import regulations.

• Monitor shipments and minimize delays, demurrage, detention, and other avoidable costs.

• Maintain accurate shipment records and prepare regular operational reports.

• Resolve customs clearance challenges and provide timely solutions.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, International Trade, or a related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in customs clearing, transit, or freight forwarding.

• Strong practical knowledge of Ethiopian customs procedures and import documentation.

• Experience handling vehicle imports is an advantage.

• Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant computer applications.
