Senior Geologist – Alluvial Gold Mining

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced professional Geologist specializing in Alluvial Gold Exploration and Mining for a mining project in West Africa.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Geology or with related field of study

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in alluvial gold exploration and mining.

• Strong experience identifying and evaluating gold-bearing river channels, terraces, floodplains and paleochannels.

• Experience with geological mapping, GPS/GIS and interpretation of exploration data.

• Experience preparing sampling grids and identifying priority mining areas.

• Experience supervising exploration teams and working with excavators and alluvial washing/test plants.

• Experience working in West African gold geology is strongly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead field exploration and help identify the highest-potential alluvial gold zones before production equipment is deployed

• Reduce unnecessary excavation and improving mining efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

• Prepare regular progress reports for management.

• Maintain accurate records of geological data and findings.

• Prepare professional geological maps, daily field reports and exploration reports.

• Coordinate with mining, survey, and production teams.

Skills & Competencies

• Proven ability to plan and supervise test pits, trenching, auger drilling and bulk sampling programs.

• Ability to determine gravel thickness, overburden, bedrock depth and gold distribution.

• Strong knowledge of placer/alluvial gold sampling and grade estimation.

• Ability to calculate preliminary gold grades, volumes and potential resources from field data.

• Knowledge of gold recovery methods and the relationship between geology, particle size and recovery performance.

• Ability to prepare professional geological maps, daily field reports and exploration reports.
