Senior General Ledger Accountant

JR Petroleum PLC is pleased to announce a hiring opportunity for our sister company, Desta Kassie Bulk Fuel Private Transport. We are seeking an exceptional and detail-oriented Senior General Ledger Accountant to join the team. The Senior General Ledger Accountant is responsible for overseeing General Ledger (GL) integrity, fixed asset accounting, lease management, and financial compliance. This role ensures accurate tracking, reconciliation, and reporting of fixed assets under both regulatory tax standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), while maintaining risk mitigation through comprehensive asset insurance coverage and strict adherence to statutory accounting principles.

• Maintain, update, and manage the master Fixed Asset Register, tracking asset additions, disposals, transfers, and capital expenditure projects across all company facilities and departments.
• Prepare and maintain parallel fixed asset depreciation schedules compliant with:
• • IFRS Standards
  • Tax Regulations
• Coordinate periodic physical counts and verification of plant, machinery, vehicles, and equipment, matching physical tags against the FAR.
• Perform periodic reconciliations between the Fixed Asset Register sub-ledger and the General Ledger control accounts, identifying and adjusting any variances.
• Review, post, and reconcile core month-end journal entries to ensure overall General Ledger accuracy and audit readiness.
• Accounting for lease agreements, leasehold land, rented facilities and machinery in compliance with IFRS.
• Calculate ROU asset amortization schedules, maintain interest accruals on lease liabilities, and reconcile lease ledger accounts against contract terms.
• Monitor policy renewals, track insured asset valuations, and coordinate with insurance providers to ensure all corporate fixed assets, fleet and properties carry continuous, optimal coverage.
• Manage documentation, reporting, and accounting entries for damaged, lost or written-off insured assets.
• Ensure all fixed asset disposals, write-offs, revaluations, and lease schedules conform to local legal frameworks, statutory reporting standards and corporate governance policies.
