Key Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Review financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure reports are in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
  1. General Ledger Management:
  • Oversee the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, including reviewing and posting journal entries.
  • Supervise account reconciliations, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and are in line with internal policies.
  1. Month-End & Year-End Closing:
  • Manage and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure proper documentation for month-end/year-end reports, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure all necessary adjustments are made before closing.
  1. Supervision & Mentoring:
  • Lead and mentor junior accountants and accounting assistants, providing guidance on technical and procedural matters.
  • Assign tasks, review work for accuracy, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Coordinate and train staff on new systems, processes, or changes in accounting regulations.
  1. Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring they align with the company’s financial objectives.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  1. Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation documentation.
  • Identify areas of risk or inefficiency and suggest improvements in accounting processes or controls.
  1. Tax Reporting & Compliance:
  • Assist in preparing tax filings, including income tax, VAT/GST, and other relevant taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors or agencies as needed.
  1. Process Improvement & Automation:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
  • Help drive automation initiatives, such as implementing accounting software upgrades or integrating new technologies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required by the company


Requirements

 Preferred Disciplines

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, financial modeling), accounting software, and other business management tools.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing regulations, processes, and technologies in the accounting field.

Certifications and licenses

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA): Certification from the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) or its equivalent.
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA): Certification from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA): Certification from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
  • Accounting Specialist Certificates: Certificates focused on specific areas of accounting (e.g., cost accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance) from reputable organizations.
  • Advanced Excel Certification: Training focused on more advanced spreadsheet usage for financial analysis and reporting.
  • ERP System Certificates: Certification in using specific ERP systems relevant to the manufacturing sector, such as SAP or Oracle.


Work experiences

  • A minimum of 5+ years Relevant experience in various accounting roles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cost accounting.
  • Experience in a Leadership Role (Preferred): Some experience supervising or managing a team, demonstrating leadership and communication skills.
  • Manufacturing Industry Experience: Prior experience working in the accounting department of a manufacturing company is a significant advantage.
  • Financial Reporting Experience: Strong experience preparing financial statements, conducting variance analysis, and developing financial reports.
