Reports To:  Maintenance Unit Operation

Job Summary

The Batching Plant Electrician is responsible for the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all electrical, electronic, automation, and control systems within the concrete batching plant and its integrated units (including crusher, block, or asphalt units if applicable). This role focuses on maximizing plant uptime through rigorous preventive maintenance, rapid troubleshooting of complex control circuits, calibration of critical weighing systems, and ensuring strict compliance with industrial safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
    • System Diagnostics: Inspect, test, and maintain electrical wiring, control panels, boards,

tran formators, and motor control centers (MCCs).

  • Motor & Drive Management: Troubleshoot, repair, and program Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Soft Starters, and Star-Delta starter circuits for high-capacity mixer motors and cement screw conveyors.
  • Sensor & Instrument Care: Routinely inspect and maintain proximity switches, limit switches, photoelectric sensors, and solenoid valves managing material gates.
  1. Automation & Calibration (PLC & SCADA)
    • PLC Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) modules (e.g., Siemens, Delta, or Schneider) and communication networks (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet).
    • Weighing Systems: Maintain and calibrate high-precision load cells and digital weighing indicators for aggregates, cement, water, and chemical admixtures to ensure absolute mix design accuracy.
    • Software Interface: Assist operations in troubleshooting command cabin software-to-hardware mismatches to prevent batching delays.
  2. Routine Plant Operations Support
    • Power Distribution: Monitor main incoming power supply, standby generator synchronization panels, and automatic transfer switches (ATS).
    • Pneumatic & Hydraulic Interface: Work alongside mechanical crews to maintain electrical triggers for pneumatic air compressors and hydraulic power packs.
    • Emergency Response: Provide immediate breakdown support during high-capacity production runs to minimize concrete cold joints.
  3. Safety, Quality & Compliance
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): Strictly enforce LOTO protocols before any intervention on mixers, belts, or silos.
    • Standards Adherence: Ensure all electrical installations and modifications conform to relevant national electrical codes and align with ISO 9001 quality management workflows.
    • Housekeeping: Maintain clean, dust-free, and moisture-controlled electrical control rooms and panels.

Education & Certification

  • Diploma or degree: Advanced Diploma or ITI/Vocational Certification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a closely related technical field.
  • Licensing: Valid industrial electrician license/certification from a recognized governing authority is highly preferred/optional/

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of direct experience as a maintenance electrician in a ready-mix concrete batching plant, asphalt plant, or heavy industrial manufacturing unit.
  • Proven track record of managing heavy-duty twin-shaft mixers and high-capacity conveyor systems.

Physical & Workspace Demands

  • Ability to work at heights (silo level) and in environments exposed to concrete dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including night operations during intensive structural pours.
