Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Audit & Financial Control (Core Priority)
- Lead and coordinate year-end external financial audits, internal audit reviews, and Ministry of Revenues (ERCA) tax audits.
- Prepare complete audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective action plans to strengthen internal controls.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS / Ethiopian GAAP.
- Perform general ledger postings, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts analysis.
- Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Import / Export & Cost Accounting
- Handle financial documentation related to international trade transactions (Letters of Credit / LC, CAD, Franco Valuta).
- Calculate precise cost build-ups for imported goods (customs duties, freight, handling, and logistics costs).
- Manage foreign exchange (Forex) gains/losses and export proceeds settlement reconciliations.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and file all monthly statutory tax returns (VAT, Withholding Tax, Employment Income Tax, Pension) accurately and on time through the E-Tax platform.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Ethiopian Commercial Code and tax regulations.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university. (ACCA/CPA progress is an advantage).
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in accounting roles.
- Audit Experience:
- MUST HAVE — Demonstrated hands-on experience in audit facilitation, internal audit, or working directly with external audit firms.
- Import/Export Experience: PREFERRED — Prior experience in handling import/export cost build-ups, LC/CAD documentation, and foreign currency accounting is highly preferred.
Technical Skills & Tools
- Software: Proficient in accounting software such as Peachtree / Sage or ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP).
- Tax Portal: Strong command of Ethiopian Tax Laws (ERCA / Ministry of Revenues) and the e-tax filing portal.
- Excel & Standards: Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, financial modeling) and practical knowledge of IFRS.
Languages & Soft Skills
