Job Description
Senior Accountant
Employer: Skyline Import and Export PLC
Business line : Pharmaceutical Import, Wholesale & Distribution
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Employment Type: Full-time
Required number: 1(one)
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records in accordance with applicable Ethiopian accounting and tax requirements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Follow up customer receivables and provide regular aging reports to management.
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts and customer accounts.
- Ensure accurate costing of purchased pharmaceutical products and inventory.
- Monitor inventory-related accounting and reconcile accounting records with physical inventory.
- Prepare cash-flow forecasts and monitor the Company's cash position.
- Support management in budgeting and financial planning.
- Monitor expenses against approved budgets.
- Prepare tax calculations and coordinate timely tax filings and payments.
- Ensure proper documentation and authorization of financial transactions.
- Maintain proper financial records and supporting documents for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide requested financial information.
- Review accounting entries and ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Identify financial control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Provide management with financial analysis and information required for business decisions.
- Perform other finance-related duties assigned by management.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent is an advantage.
- Minimum 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably including experience in import, pharmaceutical wholesale or trading businesses.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Ethiopian tax requirements.
- Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
- Experience in bank reconciliation, receivables, payables and inventory accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

- Performance will be assessed based on:
- Timeliness and accuracy of financial reports
- Accuracy of accounting records
- Timely bank and account reconciliations
- Receivables collection monitoring
- Payables management
- Accuracy of inventory
- Timely tax compliance
- Cash-flow reporting and forecasting
- Budgetary control
- Audit readiness and quality of financial documentation
