 About Axion Trading PLC 

Axion Trading PLC is an electric vehicle (EV) import and integrated automotive solutions company commencing full-scale operations in 2026. The Company operates a demand-driven, trade-finance-based business model, importing vehicles through Letter of Credit (LC) mechanisms, managing bonded warehouse operations, and partnering with SACCOs, banks, and microfinance institutions to deliver structured fleet and retail vehicle sales across Ethiopia.

Role Summary

The Senior Accountant will serve as the financial backbone of Axion's operations, responsible for maintaining rigorous financial records, managing tax and regulatory compliance, and supporting the trade-finance-heavy transactional environment unique to vehicle importation. The ideal candidate brings direct experience from a vehicle or automotive import company and understands the accounting complexities of LC settlements, customs duties, bonded warehouse duty deferrals, and foreign exchange transactions.


Key Responsibility

  • Manage the full-cycle accounting for vehicle import transactions, including LC settlements, supplier payments, customs duty accruals, and bonded warehouse inventory accounting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Ethiopian accounting standards and tax laws.
  • Handle VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and customs duty filings with MINISTRY OF REVENU and relevant authorities.
  • Reconcile foreign currency transactions (USD/EUR/ETB) and manage exchange gain/loss accounting in line with NBE regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow against LC repayment schedules and shipment cycles, flagging liquidity risks proactively.
  • Maintain accurate cost-per-unit records for each vehicle import cycle, supporting unit margin analysis.
  • Coordinate with banks and trade finance teams on LC documentation, payment confirmations, and margin account management.
  • Ensure bonded warehouse stock records reconcile with customs documentation at all times.
  • Support external auditors, MINISTRY OF REVENU audits, and banking compliance reviews with accurate, well-organized documentation.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Supervise junior finance staff and support capacity building within the Finance & Administration function.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional certification (strongly preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a car import, automotive import, or vehicle distribution company (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated   experience   handling   LC-based               import          accounting,               customs duty accounting, and bonded warehouse financial records.
  • Proven track record managing MINISTRY OF REVENU tax filings, VAT, withholding tax, and corporate tax in Ethiopia.
  • Experience with foreign currency accounting and NBE foreign exchange compliance.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (Peachtree, QuickBooks, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax law, customs regulations, and NBE foreign exchange directives.
