Role Overview

The Research Associate (RA) at Ethio Capital Solutions (ECS) is a core contributor to the research and advisory function, responsible for supporting the execution of high-quality research initiatives that inform investment strategies and client advisory services. Reporting to the Chief Research Officer (CRO) and working closely with the Senior Research Officer (SRO), the RA plays an essential role in data collection, analysis, report preparation, and the operational delivery of research outputs.

As ECS navigates a transformative phase in Ethiopia's capital market landscape, the RA will support comprehensive research programs that underpin investment decision-making, regulatory compliance, and client advisory services. This role offers a unique opportunity to build deep expertise in capital markets research within a fast-growing, high-governance environment, with a clear pathway toward senior research responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research Execution and Support

• Support the design and execution of sector-specific and macroeconomic research projects under the direction of the CRO and SRO.

• Conduct comprehensive data gathering, literature reviews, and desktop research to inform project scoping and analytical frameworks.

• Apply established research methodologies, templates, and quality assurance frameworks in the preparation of research outputs.

• Assist in the maintenance and updating of research databases, financial models, and sector trackers.

2.  Advisory Services Support

• Contribute to project-based research teams on client mandates, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of research inputs.

• Support the development of client proposals, pitch materials, and advisory documentation under senior guidance.

• Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices in all research and advisory activities.

• Assist in the implementation of operational policies and procedures pertaining to advisory services.

3.  Client and Product Support

• Support client onboarding processes by conducting preliminary KYC checks, data compilation, and investment research in collaboration with the compliance and advisory teams.

• Contribute to quality control of client-facing materials, including research reports, fact sheets, and presentation decks.

• Support operational readiness for new advisory product launches through data analysis, market scanning, and documentation preparation.

• Assist in the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into research outputs.

4.  Research and Reporting

• Contribute to the production of periodic investment research reports, market commentaries, and client reporting materials.

• Support the generation and dissemination of research outputs through digital platforms, including the firm's website and other approved channels.

• Prepare charts, tables, data visualizations, and appendices to support senior researchers in report writing.

• Utilize AI tools and digital technologies to enhance research efficiency, data processing, and analytical accuracy.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

• Support the maintenance of relationships with clients and stakeholders (e.g., ECMA, ESX, independent legal advisors, auditors) under the guidance of senior team members.

• Contribute research inputs to business development initiatives, strategic partnerships, and corporate engagement strategies.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather market intelligence and support competitive positioning efforts.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.

• Progress toward CISI certification, CFA or FMVA is advantageous.

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in financial services, capital markets, investment research, or regulated financial institutions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a solid foundation in quantitative and qualitative research methods.

• Proficient report writing and presentation skills with attention to accuracy.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Sound knowledge of the Ethiopian financial market and products.

• Foundational proficiency in financial valuation and investment analysis.

• Experience in data analytics, financial modeling, and spreadsheet management.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
