Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Reporting Analyst to be a team player on our dynamic reporting team. Theideal candidate is passionate about using data to inform key business decisions and enjoys going beyond building dashboardsto genuinely analyzing and interpreting data. Experience with Python for data analysis, alongside PowerBI is strongly preferred.

This individual will play a pivotal role in collecting, prioritizing, and designing analytical reports and interactive tools for various business entities and groups. The right candidate is passionate about interpreting data — not just visualizing it — using programming tools such as Python for deeper statistical analysis and interactive reporting, and is comfortable leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate insight generation. This person will work across departments to understand and inform their analytics requirements, and will coach and grow young talent on the team.

This role will also have opportunities to look at data and reporting across all markets of Hatch Africa.

Key Performance Indicators

• Depth and business impact of analytical insight delivered to business leadership — not just time to action reporting requests (e.g., deploy new reports, make adjustments)

• Increased proportion of reporting output that is interpretive and recommendation-driven versus purely descriptive dashboards

Main Duties

• Conduct in-depth data analysis, using Python where appropriate, to extract valuable insights and trends.
• Analyze and interpret data by comparing it to past, current, and future projections, and provide clear, actionable insights to business leadership — explaining not just what happened, but why.
• Apply statistical methods and exploratory data analysis in Python (e.g., pandas, numpy) to validate hypotheses and uncover drivers behind business performance.
• Design and develop interactive, code-based reporting tools and applications (e.g., using Python frameworks such as Streamlit or Dash), using PowerBI where it is the most effective medium.
• Apply LLM tools to accelerate data interpretation, generate narrative summaries of findings, and support natural-language exploration of data by non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with departments to gather and understand reporting and analytical requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear and actionable reporting and analysis specifications.
• Develop and generate reports, dashboards, and interactive analytical tools to meet business needs.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align reporting and analytical activities with organizational goals.
• Provide support and guidance to end-users in interpreting and utilizing reports and analytical output effectively.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in reporting and analytical workflows.
• Stay informed about new reporting tools, programming techniques, and LLM capabilities to enhance analytical capabilities.

Additional Mandatory Duties

• Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of data used in reporting and analytical activities across all reporting platforms, including Power BI and other analytical tools.
• Collaborate with the Reporting Team Leader to understand, prioritize, and implement reporting and analytics requirements aligned with business needs.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using appropriate tools, including Power BI for structured reporting and visualization, and other analytical approaches where deeper analysis and insights are required.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in reporting, data analysis, Python-based analytical techniques, and emerging AI/LLM-assisted capabilities.
• Contribute to the documentation of reporting and analytical processes, methodologies, and best practices, including SQL queries, Power BI development standards, Python code, and analytical approaches.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in data analytics, business intelligence, Python tooling, and AI/LLM applications to continuously improve reporting capabilities.
