RAM & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGR
Exports To: General Manager (GM)
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with frequent travel to mining/project sites
Employment Type: Full-Time
JOB PURPOSE
GSG Mining Plc is seeking a highly competent and results-oriented RAM & Supply Chain Manager to lead the Company's Resource & Asset Management, Equipment Maintenance, Procurement, Inventory, Warehouse and Logistics functions. The position will ensure effective planning, utilization, maintenance and control of Company resources and assets, while ensuring the timely and cost-effective availability of equipment, spare parts, materials, consumables and services required to support uninterrupted mining and exploration operations. The Manager will work closely with the General Manager, Operations, Exploration, Finance, HR & Administration and Site Management to maximize asset utilization, equipment availability, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Resource & Asset Management
- Develop and implement effective resource and asset management systems and maintain an accurate asset/equipment register.
- Manage the asset lifecycle from acquisition, deployment and utilization through maintenance, refurbishment, replacement and disposal.
- Monitor equipment utilization, availability, condition and operating costs; plan equipment/resource requirements with Operations and Site Management.
- Ensure proper accountability, custody, transfer and documentation of Company assets.
- Equipment & Maintenance Management
- Manage mining and support equipment including excavators, dump trucks, dozers, loaders, generators, pumps, washing plants and vehicles.
- Develop and monitor preventive, corrective and scheduled maintenance programs; monitor breakdowns, downtime, utilization, availability and maintenance costs.
- Ensure timely availability of critical spare parts, tyres, lubricants and maintenance consumables.
- Coordinate major repairs, overhauls, refurbishment and technical services with workshops, agents, OEMs and contractors; maintain proper equipment history and inspection records.
- Procurement & Supply Chain
- Develop and manage procurement plans for equipment, spare parts, consumables, materials and services.
- Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, negotiation and performance management; negotiate competitive prices, terms, delivery schedules, warranties and service agreements.
- Ensure timely procurement of critical and long-lead items while minimizing emergency purchases.
- Manage logistics and transportation to project sites, including import and customs coordination where applicable.
- Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Establish effective warehouse, stores and inventory-control systems and appropriate minimum, maximum, reorder and safety-stock levels.
- Ensure availability of critical spare parts and operational materials; monitor stock accuracy, stock-outs, excess, slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Ensure proper receiving, inspection, storage, preservation and issuance of materials; conduct regular stock counts and reconciliation.
- Budget, Cost Control & Reporting
- Prepare and monitor RAM & Supply Chain CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
- Monitor equipment, maintenance, procurement, inventory and logistics costs; identify cost-saving and efficiency-improvement initiatives.
- Analyze equipment operating costs and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Provide the GM with regular performance reports and develop/monitor relevant RAM & Supply Chain KPIs.
Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and develop the RAM & Supply Chain team and establish clear responsibilities and performance targets.
- Coordinate with Operations, Exploration, Finance, HR & Administration and Site Management.
- Escalate critical equipment failures, supply interruptions and significant operational or budget issues to the GM.
- Promote accountability, safety, integrity, cost consciousness and continuous improvement.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Academic Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Asset Management or a closely related field.
- Master's Degree and/or professional certifications such as CIPS, CSCP, CPSM, PMP, CMMS/Asset Management or equivalent are an advantage.
- Specialized training in heavy equipment maintenance, fleet/asset management, procurement or mining operations is desirable.
- Professional Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in mining, construction, heavy equipment, manufacturing or another asset-intensive industry.
- At least 2 years in a managerial or senior supervisory position.
- Proven experience in equipment/fleet management, maintenance, procurement, supply chain, inventory and logistics.
- Demonstrated experience managing heavy equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, dozers, loaders, generators, pumps and processing/washing plants.
- Strong experience in spare-parts planning, inventory control, supplier management and contract negotiation.
- Experience in asset lifecycle management, CAPEX/OPEX budgeting and equipment cost analysis.
- Experience with ERP, CMMS, fleet-management or asset-management systems is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting remote mining or construction sites is an advantage.

- Familiarity with CMMS, fleet-management and/or asset-management systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and management-reporting skills; strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication and team-management skills; high integrity, accountability and commercial awareness.
- Ability to work under pressure and travel frequently to remote mining/project sites.
