I.Job Summary

The OR Nurse/Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. The position involves preparing patients and the operating room, assisting the surgical team, maintaining strict infection prevention and control standards, monitoring patients’ conditions, administering medications as prescribed, and ensuring accurate documentation. The nurse works closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to promote patient safety and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.

II.  Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to patients in accordance with established clinical standards.
• Assess patients’ health conditions, monitor vital signs, and promptly report any changes or abnormalities.
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures and ensure all required pre-operative care is completed.
• Prepare and maintain the operating room, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist surgeons and other members of the surgical team during procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and comply with infection prevention and control standards.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by authorized healthcare professionals.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Ensure proper identification, handling, counting, and documentation of surgical instruments, equipment, and specimens.
• Provide post-operative nursing care and monitor patients for complications.
• Maintain accurate and complete nursing records, reports, and patient documentation.
• Educate patients and their families regarding treatment, medications, procedures, and post-operative care as appropriate.
• Safeguard patient confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and rights at all times.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of medical equipment and supplies.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthetists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and other hospital programs.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor or nursing management.
