Job Description
Job Summary
The position holder (MHNT Midwife-Assistant) will provide comprehensive maternal, newborn, reproductive and adolescent health services through MHNT outreach activities and contribute to the reduction of maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality in hard-to-reach communities.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Midwifery from a recognized University/health college
Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in Maternal and child health service delivery at a public health facility, reproductive health clinics, or MHNT as a midwife
Experience working in remote or humanitarian settings preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide maternal and reproductive health services, including ANC, family planning, maternal screening, PMTCT, and referral of high-risk pregnancies.
Deliver basic emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC), essential newborn care, and support safe delivery services.
Provide postnatal care, breastfeeding and nutrition counseling, newborn growth monitoring, and postpartum family planning services.
Deliver adolescent and youth-friendly reproductive health education and services, including STI prevention and GBV referral support.
Conduct community awareness and health education activities to promote maternal, newborn, and reproductive health services.
Maintain accurate health records, registers, HMIS data, and timely service reports.
Promote child protection, gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding principles in all activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Skills & Competencies
Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
Ability to work and create the partnership with key government and peer partners and stakeholders
Skilled in BEMONC, ANC, PNC and reproductive health service provision.
Languages required:
Excellent English verbal and written skills.
Knowledge of local language (Afaan Oromoo) -mandatory
