Job Description

Job Purpose/Summary

To perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures safely and efficiently while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, equipment optimization, proper documentation, workflow efficiency, infection prevention compliance, and excellent patient care within the imaging diagnostic center.

The MRT is also responsible for supporting efficient utilization of imaging resources, maintaining imaging quality standards, and ensuring compliance with PACS/RIS/ODOO workflows and operational procedures.

Job Responsibilities: -

A. Diagnostic Imaging Procedures

  • Perform imaging examinations including X-ray, CT, MRI, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound support, and other imaging procedures according to physician orders and protocols.

  • Ensure proper patient positioning and imaging technique selection.

  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images with minimal repeat exposure.

  • Verify patient identity and imaging requests before procedures.

  • Ensure imaging protocols are correctly followed.

  • Support contrast-enhanced imaging procedures when required.

  • Ensure timely completion of imaging examinations.

  • Achieve modality-specific productivity targets.

  • Ensure imaging examinations are completed within established turnaround standards.

  • Minimize patient waiting time through efficient workflow management.

  • Optimize appointment slot utilization and examination throughput.

B. Patient Care and Safety

  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures.

  • Explain procedures and provide patient instructions.

  • Monitor patient condition during procedures.

  • Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and comfort.

  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.

  • Support safe patient transfer and positioning.

  • Report patient incidents and adverse events promptly.

C. Radiation Safety and Infection Prevention

  • Ensure compliance with radiation protection standards.

  • Apply ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.

  • Use appropriate shielding and radiation safety practices.

  • Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices.

  • Maintain cleanliness of imaging rooms and equipment.

  • Ensure safe handling and disposal of medical waste.

  • Participate in radiation monitoring programs.

D. Equipment and Resource Utilization

  • Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Conduct routine equipment checks before procedures.

  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly.

  • Ensure proper utilization of imaging consumables and contrast materials.

  • Minimize CD/DVD, contrast, and consumable wastage.

  • Support preventive maintenance activities.

  • Ensure efficient use of imaging time slots and resources.

  • Monitor and minimize contrast media wastage.

  •  Ensure efficient utilization of imaging consumables.

  • Support equipment utilization optimization initiatives.

E. PACS/RIS/ODOO Workflow Management

  • Accurately register and document imaging procedures in RIS/PACS/ODOO systems.

  • Ensure correct patient and examination data entry.

  • Upload and verify imaging studies in PACS.

  • Monitor imaging workflow queues and reporting status.

  • Ensure timely completion of digital documentation.

  • Support operational reporting and utilization monitoring.

  • Ensure real-time completion of examination documentation.

  •  Maintain accuracy of patient demographics and examination records.

  • Support automated workflow and digital documentation compliance.

F. Quality Improvement and Compliance

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Support accreditation and audit activities.

  • Maintain compliance with SOPs and imaging protocols.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.

  • Maintain professional competency and continuing education

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Medical Radiologic Technology / Medical Imaging Technology.

  • Somali language proficiency is advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years experience in diagnostic imaging preferred.

  • Experience in MRI, CT, Mammography, or advanced imaging modalities is an advantage.

Licensure

  • Valid professional MRT license/certification.
