Job Description

Job Summary

New Leaf Medical Complex is seeking competent, patient-centered, and detail-oriented Laboratory Technologists to join our growing laboratory team at both Junior and Senior levels.

The Laboratory Technologist will support the delivery of safe, accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic laboratory services, including specimen collection, processing, testing, quality control, documentation, and patient-centered laboratory support.

We are looking for candidates at two levels:

  • Junior Laboratory Technologist (Phlebotomy): BSc in Laboratory Science/Technology with 1–3 years of experience, with strong practical competency in phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • Senior Laboratory Technologist: MSc in Laboratory Science/Technology or related field with 3–4 years of relevant laboratory experience, with demonstrated technical, quality assurance, and supervisory capabilities.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Testing & Technical Services

  • Perform laboratory investigations according to approved SOPs and quality standards.
  • Collect, receive, identify, label, process, and handle specimens accurately.
  • Ensure timely and accurate laboratory results.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and follow appropriate testing procedures.
  • Identify and report technical or specimen-related issues.

2. Phlebotomy & Specimen Management

  • Perform safe and professional venipuncture and blood collection.
  • Properly identify and prepare patients before specimen collection.
  • Ensure correct specimen type, quantity, labeling, and transportation.
  • Apply appropriate infection prevention and sharps-safety procedures.

3. Quality Assurance & Patient Safety

  • Follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintain accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Participate in internal quality assessments, audits, and improvement activities.
  • Maintain laboratory biosafety and infection prevention standards.
  • Report incidents, errors, and safety concerns promptly.

4. Equipment, Reagents & Inventory

  • Ensure laboratory equipment is properly operated and maintained.
  • Report equipment malfunction and support troubleshooting.
  • Monitor reagents, consumables, and laboratory supplies.
  • Support proper inventory control and minimize wastage.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate laboratory and patient records.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Prepare laboratory activity, quality, and performance reports.
  • Utilize LIS/HIS/EMR and other laboratory information systems effectively.

6. Teamwork & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuous learning and training.

7. Senior-Level Responsibilities

Senior Laboratory Technologists will additionally:

  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior laboratory staff.
  • Review quality control results and support corrective actions.
  • Assist with staff competency assessment and technical training.
  • Support laboratory audits, quality improvement, and process optimization.
  • Assist in managing laboratory equipment, reagents, and operational requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Junior Laboratory Technologist – Phlebotomy

  • BSc Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Laboratory Technology or related field.
  • Valid professional license/registration.
  • 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Strong practical experience in phlebotomy, venipuncture, and specimen collection.
  • Hospital or medical laboratory experience is highly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of infection prevention, laboratory safety, and specimen handling.

Senior Laboratory Technologist

  • MSc Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Laboratory Technology or related field.
  • Valid professional license/registration.
  • 3–4 years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Strong clinical laboratory testing and quality management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, guide, and support junior laboratory staff.
  • Hospital or medical laboratory experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, quality control, and troubleshooting.
