Job Description
Job Purpose
We are looking for a motivated Junior Geotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical investigations, foundation design, technical calculations, site activities, and geotechnical documentation. The role is suitable for high-performing fresh graduates and junior engineers who are eager to develop their technical skills through mentoring and project exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Review geotechnical investigation reports, borehole logs, and laboratory/field test results.
- Assist with soil profile interpretation and preparation of geotechnical data summaries.
- Support foundation design and calculations, including bearing capacity, settlement, and soil pressure.
- Assist with shallow, raft, pile, and retaining-related foundation design under supervision.
- Participate in soil investigation, foundation, excavation, and compaction site activities.
- Prepare calculation sheets, technical notes, site reports, and other project documentation.
- Support geotechnical and foundation optimization studies.
- Coordinate with structural engineers, site teams, laboratories, and consultants as required.
- Develop knowledge of geotechnical engineering software, standards, and design practices.
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong academic performance, particularly in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of geotechnical investigation, foundation design, bearing capacity, and settlement analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn, work under supervision, and travel to project sites.
- Knowledge of Eurocode 7 and Ethiopian Building Codes is an advantage.
- Exposure to PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar geotechnical software is an advantage.
