Job Description
The Internal Auditor will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, operational processes, risk management practices, and compliance across the organization, with a particular focus on manufacturing and plant operations.
The role will identify control weaknesses, operational risks, process inefficiencies, and compliance gaps, and provide practical recommendations to strengthen governance, accountability, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk-based internal audits across manufacturing, plant operations, finance, procurement, inventory, supply chain, HR, and other business functions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, policies, procedures, and operational processes.
- Conduct operational and process audits within manufacturing and plant environments.
- Review controls relating to raw materials, inventory, production processes, wastage, scrap, finished goods, and equipment utilization.
- Identify control weaknesses, financial and operational risks, process gaps, and areas of non-compliance.
- Assess adherence to approved SOPs, company policies, and delegated authorities.
- Prepare detailed audit findings, recommendations, and reports for management.
- Follow up on audit findings and monitor implementation of agreed corrective actions.
- Support risk assessment and maintenance of the company risk register.
- Provide practical recommendations to improve processes, controls, efficiency, and accountability.
- Prepare periodic internal audit reports and present key findings to senior management.
- Work closely with plant management and department heads to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.
- Maintain appropriate audit documentation and working papers.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CIA, ACCA, CPA, CISA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Additional training or certification in internal audit, risk management, or compliance is an advantage.
Experience
- 6–8 years of relevant internal audit experience.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing company is required, preferably within a steel factory, metal manufacturing, or similar process/industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on experience conducting operational, process, and internal control audits.
- Experience auditing plant/manufacturing operations, inventory, procurement, production, and supply chain processes is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to identify control weaknesses, assess risks, and provide practical corrective recommendations.
- Experience working with ERP systems and computerized audit/reporting tools is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies and internal control frameworks.
- Good understanding of manufacturing and plant operations.
- Strong risk assessment and process analysis skills.
- Ability to plan, execute, document, and report internal audits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
