Position Information

Job Title: Instruction and Curriculum Implementation Manager
Reports To: Deputy Academic Director

4. Key duties and responsibilities

     A. Curriculum planning and alignment

          The instruction and curriculum implementation manager will:

  • coordinate and support the alignment of the Cambridge international curriculum and the Ethiopian national curriculum, where applicable.
  • establish and maintain clear standards for curriculum implementation across grade levels and departments.
  • review curriculum plans, schemes of work, lesson plans, and other academic documents.
  • ensure that teachers understand curriculum expectations, learning outcomes, content coverage, and assessment requirements.
  • identify curriculum implementation gaps and work with relevant staff to address them.

B. Monitoring curriculum implementation

The manager will:

  • follow up on the implementation of all academic and educational programs.
  • monitor curriculum coverage and ensure that required learning objectives are being addressed within the planned academic calendar.
  • conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • review lesson plans, schemes of work, student work, assessment records, and other evidence of learning.
  • work with department coordinators to identify areas where teachers or students may need additional support.
  • prepare regular reports for the deputy academic director on curriculum implementation, instructional quality, challenges, and progress.

C. Teacher Support, Coaching and Professional Development

The Manager will:

  • Guide teachers in effective lesson planning and lesson delivery.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and support teachers and department coordinators.
  • Organize professional development sessions based on identified instructional needs.
  • Identify professional development needs and recommend appropriate training.

D. Academic programs and activities

The Manager will:

  • Plan, coordinate, and follow up on curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure that academic activities are properly planned and connected to the school's educational objectives.
  • Support departments in developing academic enrichment activities.
  • Coordinate academic events, competitions, projects, clubs, exhibitions, and other learning activities as assigned.

E. Cambridge curriculum and examination support

The Manager will:

  • assist the Cambridge examination officer in the effective implementation of Cambridge related academic and examination requirements.
  • support teachers in understanding Cambridge curriculum expectations, assessment objectives, and academic standards.
  • work with the Cambridge team to ensure appropriate curriculum coverage and examination preparation.
  • help identify areas where teachers require additional Cambridge-related training or support.
  • support proper documentation and academic preparation for Cambridge examinations.

Requirements

  1. Educational Qualifications

applicants should have:

  • a bachelor's degree (BA) in curriculum and instruction, educational planning and management, or a closely related field.
  • a master's degree in education, curriculum studies, educational leadership, school management, or a related field will be considered an advantage.
  1. Required work experience

The applicant should have:

  • at least five years of relevant professional experience in education.
  • demonstrated experience as a school director, instructional manager, academic coordinator, curriculum coordinator, department head, or in a similar academic leadership position.
  • strong practical experience in curriculum planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • experience working with an international curriculum, particularly Cambridge international curriculum, is strongly preferred.
  • demonstrated experience supporting, coaching, and developing teachers.
