Position: HR Assistant Intern
Number of Positions: 1
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Duration: 6 Months
Reporting To: HR Coordinator/HR Manager

1.1 General Information

New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The organization was previously registered at the Ministry of Justice under registration number 3018 and later registered and licensed by the Federal Charities and Societies Agency as an Ethiopian resident’s charity by the Charities and Societal Proclamation No. 621/2009 by registration No. 0539. NMWEO has been re-registered according to the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No.113/2019 with registration No. 0539.

Key Responsibilities

The HR Assistant Intern will:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating personnel files;
  • Support recruitment and selection processes;
  • Assist with vacancy announcements and candidate screening;
  • Coordinate interview arrangements;
  • Support preparation of recruitment documentation;
  • Assist with staff attendance and leave records;
  • Update HR databases and staff trackers;
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new employees;
  • Assist with probation and performance management documentation;
  • Support staff training and development activities;
  • Assist in preparing HR reports;
  • Support staff clearance and exit procedures;
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of employee information;
  • Support the HR team with other assigned duties.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree/diploma in Human Resources Management, Management, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Final-year students or recent graduates are encouraged to apply;
  • Basic understanding of HR principles and practices;
  • Good knowledge of MS Word and Excel;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Strong interest in HR and organizational development.

Experience: Previous work experience is not required. Relevant internship, volunteer, or practical experience is an advantage.
