Key Roles & Responsibilities

 Inventory Control and Management:

  • Oversee inventory management across multiple stores; ensuring stock levels are optimized to meet demand without overstocking or running out of stock.
  • Lead efforts to implement and maintain inventory control systems, ensuring accurate stock records and reducing discrepancies.
  • Supervise regular stock audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation

processes to ensure the accuracy of physical stock versus recorded inventory.

  • Coordinate the replenishment and rotation of stock, ensuring stores always have the right inventory mix to meet customer demand.

Financial Oversight and Budgeting:

  • Prepare and manage budgets for store inventory and expenses, ensuring alignment with corporate financial objectives.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify areas for cost savings, improve store profitability, and reduce shrinkage (loss from theft, damage, or errors).
  • Oversee the financial reporting and stock valuation processes, ensuring accurate accounting of inventory costs and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Review and analyze store performance against targets and budgets, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues.

Store Operations Support:

  • Work closely with store managers and the operations team to ensure smooth and efficient store operations, including stock handling, distribution, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing and procurement departments to

ensure that the stores are adequately stocked and that purchasing is aligned with actual sales trends.

  • Ensure that store-level operational processes, such as receiving, storing, and dispatching inventory, comply with company policies and procedures.

Loss Prevention and Security:

  • Implement loss prevention strategies and best practices to minimize stock loss due to theft, damage, or mismanagement.
  • Monitor inventory movement and ensure that proper security

measures are in place to protect the stock in the store and during transportation.

  • Analyze stock discrepancies and investigate potential causes of shrinkage, taking corrective action when necessary.

Team Leadership and Training:

  • Lead and manage the store controller team, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations are set.
  • Provide training to store staff and controllers on inventory management best practices, systems usage, and loss prevention techniques.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment, motivating employees to meet performance targets and operational goals.

Reporting and Data Analysis:

  • Prepare regular inventory reports, financial statements, and

performance metrics for senior management, highlighting stock levels, inventory movements, financial performance, and risks.

  • Analyze data on stock turnover, sales forecasts, and inventory trends to provide insights for decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Monitor and review key performance indicators (KPIs) such as stock accuracy, stock-out rates, and inventory turnover to improve store management.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure that stores comply with all legal and company policies regarding stock management, health and safety standards, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of inventory management regulations, compliance issues, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.

Technology and System Integration:

  • Oversee the implementation and use of store management systems (e.g., Point of Sale (POS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)) to track inventory and financial data.
  • Continuously assess and recommend improvements in inventory management systems and technologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Perform other job-related duties as required by the company

Requirements

Required education & skills

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, or a related field is typically required. OR
  • A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, or Supply Chain Management may be beneficial,

Work experience

  • 4-6 years of experience in inventory management and financial control within a retail or distribution environment.
  • Strong leadership experience in managing teams, overseeing multi-store operations, and improving inventory management processes.
  • Extensive experience in stock management systems, reporting, and performance analysis is essential.
