Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 13 million patients and today deploys its operations in 14 countries. In 2023, ALIMA cared for 2.8 million patients, including over a million children under the age of 5, received 157,393 people for mental health consultations, assisted 67,617 births, carried out 64 projects in 14 countries. Whenever possible, we work in partnership with local NGOs to ensure that our patients benefit from the best and most relevant expertise wherever it is, whether within their own country or in the rest of the world. In addition, to improve the humanitarian response, we are carrying out operational and clinical research projects, particularly in the field of the fight against malnutrition and viral haemorrhagic fevers.

ALIMA’S TEAM: more than 2000 people are currently working for ALIMA. The field teams, closest to the patients, receive their support from coordination teams generally based in the countries’ capitals. These receive support from the 4 desk teams and the emergency and opening team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The Paris and New York teams are actively working to raise funds and represent ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA Galaxy includes individuals and partner teams working on behalf of other organisations such as medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERT Health, SOS Doctors / KEOGO, AMCP, research organisations PACCI, and INSERM, Bordeaux or Copenhagen Universities, the INGO Solidarités International, and many others.

ALIMA IN ETHIOPIA

ALIMA, registered in Ethiopia in December 2022, worked in the Somali region, south-east of the country. ALIMA implemented a Health and Nutrition project in three woredas in the Afder zone from May 2023 to October 2024, followed by another integrated health and nutrition response from  May 2025 - present.  In Tigray, ALIMA also supported integrated health and nutrition programs in Shire (May 2025 - May 2026) and Southeastern Zone (November 2024 - present).

Pending confirmation of donor funding,  ALIMA plans to launch an integrated response in health and protection to support refugees in the Gambella region (Nuer Zone, Makuey Woreda, Luakdong Refugee Camp).  The project intends to focus on ensuring 24/7 access to quality Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), including Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC), Clinical Management of Rape (CMR) for GBV survivors, integrated Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and establishing a vital medical referral loop to Nyangnyang Primary Hospital. 

LOCATION OF POSITION:  Gambella region, Lukdong Camp & Nyangyang with frequent visits of project areas within Nuer zone, Wanthoa, Makuey, & Akobo Woredas and Gambella Town. 

Being a new region of intervention for ALIMA, the new team will guarantee the implementation of the new project as well as all administrative and logistical requirements to establish ALIMA in the region. This team will be based in the Nuer zone, Nyangnyang town and Lukdong Refugee Camp, and will ensure the implementation of the activities and a smooth beginning of operations on the ground.

FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINKS

Reports to: Project Coordinator/ Medical Referent (with functional reporting to the Mission Logistics Coordinator)

Directly Supervises: Drivers, guards, and logistics daily workers.

Collaborates and Interacts with: Pharmacy Stock Manager, Medical Referent, Coordination, and partners

PROTECTION OF BENEFICIARIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Level 3: As part of his/her duties, the incumbent will visit programs and come into contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, a criminal record check or a certificate of good character will be required. In situations where a criminal record check or character reference is not possible, a declaration of honour will be requested.

MISSION AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

Main Purpose

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily logistics operations, facility setups, fleet systems, local procurements, and equipment maintenance at the project level (Nyangnyang base and Luakdong camp activities). The position ensures that the medical cold chain is maintained, emergency ambulances are prepared, and local logistics structures strictly follow ALIMA protocols, ensuring medical-nutrition activities are completely supported. 

Accountabilities

1. Facility Management, Rehabilitation, and Power Systems

• Supervise the maintenance, rehabilitation, and security of the Nyangnyang base office, guesthouse, and Luakdong camp health facilities.
• Supervise minor rehabilitation works and equipment setups (such as maternal ward extensions, waiting benches, and secure medicine storage cupboards).
• Ensure that constant solar energy systems and backup generator systems are functional to maintain 24/7 lighting for maternity services, delivery wards, and the guesthouse.
• Maintain safety standards within all project facilities, ensuring fire extinguishers are serviced and first-aid kits are complete.

2. Fleet and Emergency Ambulance Management

• Coordinate the daily scheduling and movement plans of project vehicles between Nyangnyang and Luakdong camp.
• Ensure the project ambulance is kept in excellent condition, fully fueled, and ready for immediate deployment to transfer emergency obstetric and neonatal cases to Nyangnyang Primary Hospital.
• Supervise and log fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance schedules, and check driver logbooks weekly to confirm safety regulations are followed.

3. Cold Chain, Supply, and Medical Waste Logistics

• Support the medical team in maintaining cold chain logistics for medications from Gambella town to the Nyangnyang base and Luakdong camp pharmacies.
• Coordinate the transport, loading, and safe delivery of clinical supplies and PEP kits to clinical points.
• Oversee the technical setup of the clinical waste management zone, ensuring the functionality of the medical incinerator and placenta pits in coordination with medical teams.

4. Procurement and Stock Control

• Manage local project-level procurements according to ALIMA’s anti-fraud, anti-corruption, and transparency guidelines.
• Manage the non-medical logistics store, keeping clear records of construction materials, solar spare parts, water pipes, and general tools.
• Work alongside partner's logistics and WASH counterparts to coordinate joint logistics needs, sharing context alerts for rainy-season floods.

Implementation of prevention measures against abuse of power, gender-based and sexual violence: 

• Participates in training and awareness sessions
• Implements abuse prevention standards
• Ensures that team members complete training and awareness sessions and follow abuse prevention rules
• Helps create and maintain a nurturing and protective environment
