Job Description
Ali Bin Ali Holding is launching a finance talent drive in Ethiopia to identify and attract experienced finance professionals across multiple experience levels. We are building a strong pool of qualified candidates to support our growing finance function.
We are looking for finance professionals with a proven track record in accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and analysis. Depending on your experience and qualifications, you may be considered for a role that matches your level of seniority from mid-level accounting roles through to more senior positions with team leadership responsibilities.
This is an open talent pooling exercise. The final role and level will be determined following our assessment and interview process, based on your demonstrated experience and capabilities.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The scope and complexity of responsibilities will vary based on the candidate's experience level. More senior candidates will be expected to take on greater ownership, leadership, and strategic involvement.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and/or review financial statements and reports in line with accounting principles, company policy, and IFRS.
- Manage or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, tax filings, and regulatory requirements.
- Support external and internal audit requests, providing supporting schedules and documentation.
Internal Controls & Risk
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Review key ledger balances (receivables, payables, cash, stock, fixed assets) and follow up on long-outstanding items.
- Assess and report on business risks, insurance adequacy, and areas of control weakness.
- Follow up on internal audit recommendations and track implementation status.
Budgeting, Analysis & MIS
- Coordinate or contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis.
- Monitor and analyze financial data and trends to provide management with meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Prepare management reports, KPI trackers, and ad-hoc analysis as required.
Accounts, Reconciliations & Fixed Assets
- Own or review reconciliations of bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules, and CAPEX tracking.
- Process day-to-day accounting transactions and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.
People Management & Leadership (For Senior Candidates)
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing feedback and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Coach direct reports and support succession planning.
Systems, Process Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Work with ERP and financial systems, evaluating and adopting new tools where relevant.
- Apply data analytics practices to support decision-making.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (divisional finance teams, supply chain, procurement, HR, IT, legal) and external parties (auditors, banks, tax/regulatory authorities).
- Coordinate submissions and renewals of statutory/government-related documents where applicable.

3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements (All Candidates)
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of core accounting and finance experience.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and IFRS.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (advanced level).
- Experience with ERP or financial systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Experience Bands
Candidates will be assessed based on the following experience bands. The level of responsibility, complexity, and leadership expectations increase with each band.

5–7 Years | Solid experience in core accounting, reconciliations, regulatory filings, and reporting support. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. |
7–10 Years | Extensive experience in financial analytics, internal controls, management reporting, and reviewing accounting operations. May have supervisory exposure. |
10+ Years | Senior-level experience with team leadership, full accounting function ownership, budgeting, strategic financial analysis, and complex stakeholder coordination. Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CA) is typically expected. |
Preferred Qualifications (Depending on Level)
- Full professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or CA.
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Industry-specific experience (e.g., FMCG, manufacturing, construction, or shared services).
