BASIC FUNCTION
The Finance Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling the financial operations of the company. The role ensures sound financial management practices, accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, budget preparation and monitoring, and compliance with applicable regulations and company policies. The Finance Manager also provides strategic advice to management and supervises the finance team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and control the overall general accounting, costing, and budgeting functions of the company.
- Establish, operate, monitor, and evaluate financial processes related to accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Prepare financial reports and cost analysis to support strategic decisions by management.
- Oversee the preparation of general accounting records, costing, budgeting, and expenditure control systems.
- Advise management on financial operations, budget utilization, and cost control measures.
- Report to the General Manager on all matters related to budgeting, accounting, costing, and financial performance.
- Ensure the company's cash flow is maintained to meet all financial obligations and commitments.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of financial statements and management information reports.
- Supervise and monitor the preparation of the company's annual budget and track performance against the budget, highlighting variances.
- Supervise and lead the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Approve cheques, disbursements, and other financial documents within delegated authority limits.
- Arrange and coordinate regular external audits of the company's financial operations.
- Ensure the proper drafting, negotiation, and management of contractual agreements with clients and vendors.
- Prepare and manage the finance department's annual budget.
- Provide necessary financial information and support to the Human Capital Department when required.
- Supervise, guide, and develop finance department staff.
- Strengthen the finance department to ensure effective and efficient handling of the company's financial activities.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- MA or BA Degree from a recognized university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in financial management, budgeting, and accounting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong leadership and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge and experience in Tax Administration.
- Proficiency in IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and Peachtree/ERP systems (if applicable).
- Strong decisionmaking and problemsolving abilities.
- Advanced computer literacy (Excel, Accounting Software, MS Office).
- Strong teamwork and crossdepartment collaboration skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry is a strong advantage.
- Fluency in English and Amharic (both written and spoken).
