1.1 General Information

New Millennium Women Empowerment Organization (NMWEO) is an indigenous, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The organization was previously registered at the Ministry of Justice under registration number 3018 and later registered and licensed by the Federal Charities and Societies Agency as an Ethiopian resident’s charity by the Charities and Societal Proclamation No. 621/2009 by registration No. 0539. NMWEO has been re-registered according to the Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No.113/2019 with registration No. 0539.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Assistant Intern will:

  • Assist with organizing and filing financial documents;
  • Support preparation and filing of payment vouchers and supporting documents;
  • Assist with financial data entry and bookkeeping;
  • Support petty cash documentation and reconciliation;
  • Assist in tracking staff advances and liquidation;
  • Support bank reconciliation and financial record keeping;
  • Assist with budget monitoring and expenditure tracking;
  • Support preparation of financial reports;
  • Assist with audit preparation and documentation;
  • Maintain both electronic and physical finance files;
  • Ensure financial documents are complete and properly filed;
  • Support the Finance team with other assigned tasks.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, Accounting and Finance, or related field;
  • Final-year students or recent graduates are encouraged to apply;
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles;
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and Word;
  • Good numerical and analytical skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Good organizational and filing skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • High level of integrity and professionalism;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience: Previous work experience is not required. Relevant internship, volunteer, or practical experience is an advantage.
