Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Tank Farm Operations - Receive and safely offload edible oils and other approved liquid raw materials from tanker trucks. - Verify delivery documents, material identification, and quantities before offloading. - Prepare storage tanks, pipelines, pumps, and valves for unloading operations. - Operate transfer pumps and valve systems to transfer materials to the designated storage tanks. - Monitor storage tank levels, temperatures, and transfer operations. - Maintain sufficient oil inventory to support uninterrupted production. - Conduct routine inspections of storage tanks, pipelines, pumps, valves, and heating systems. - Report leaks, equipment failures, or abnormal operating conditions immediately. - Maintain accurate records of oil receipts, transfers, and tank inventories.
- Field Operations - Carry out routine field inspections of pumps, pipelines, valves, and process equipment. - Support process operators during start-up, shutdown, and changeover activities. - Assist with raw material transfer from storage tanks to production. - Monitor field equipment performance and report abnormalities. - Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping in the tank farm and surrounding production areas.
- Production Support During periods when no tanker offloading activities are scheduled: - Support the Plodder Operator with soap feeding and material handling activities. - Assist in transferring soap base or intermediate materials as required. - Support equipment cleaning and production changeovers. - Assist with loading and movement of production materials. - Support production teams to ensure continuous plant operation.
- Equipment Care - Perform daily inspections of pumps, hoses, pipelines, unloading stations, and storage tanks. - Carry out basic autonomous maintenance activities such as cleaning, tightening, lubrication, and visual inspection. - Raise maintenance work requests for equipment abnormalities. - Support maintenance activities during planned shutdowns.
- Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) - Follow all safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements. - Wear mandatory PPE during all operational activities. - Ensure safe handling of edible oils, chemicals, steam, and utilities. - Prevent spills and environmental contamination during offloading and transfer operations. - Report all unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents immediately. - Maintain excellent housekeeping in accordance with 5S standards.
- Documentation - Complete tanker offloading records and tank inventory logs. - Record material transfers and daily operational activities. - Complete shift handover documentation. - Report operational abnormalities and equipment downtime.
- Continuous Improvement - Participate in TPM and Continuous Improvement initiatives. - Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for operational issues. - Suggest improvements for safer and more efficient tank farm operations.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: - TVET Level IV/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Chemical Process Operations, or a related technical field.
- Experience: - Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or process plant environment.
- Experience in tank farm operations, oil offloading, or process plant operations is an advantage.
