Job Summary

The Farm Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising all commercial crop production activities on the company's lowland farm in Bonga, Southwest Ethiopia. The position focuses on profitable and sustainable production of mung bean, sesame, sunflower, and chia seed through efficient use of land, labor, machinery, and financial resources while ensuring compliance with Good Agricultural Practices, environmental sustainability, and occupational health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Prepare annual and seasonal production plans and cropping calendars.

·         Coordinate land preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, and post-harvest operations.

·         Ensure efficient utilization of land, labor, machinery, and farm resources.

·         Manage production of mung bean, sesame, sunflower, and chia seed.

·         Supervise planting, fertilization, weed, pest, and disease management.

·         Monitor crop performance and implement Good Agricultural Practices.

·         Coordinate harvesting, drying, cleaning, grading, storage, and transportation.

·         Reduce post-harvest losses and maintain export quality standards.

·         Prepare budgets and monitor production costs.

·         Supervise agronomists, supervisors, machine operators, mechanics, and laborers.

·         Conduct staff performance evaluations and training.

·         Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and agricultural regulations.

·         Prepare daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual operational reports.

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Crop Production, Plant Science or related field.

·         Minimum 5 years of commercial crop production experience.

·         At least 1 years in managing mechanized farms.

·         Experience in mung bean, sesame, sunflower, and chia seed production.
