JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for safely transporting personnel and materials while maintaining the vehicle in good working condition and ensuring compliance with traffic and safety regulations.

Key Functions

• Pick-ups and transport personnel and material.
• Checks accessories and supplies such as tyre, light, oil, fuel, water etc. and ensures readiness of the car for duty.
• Observes traffic regulations and the practices followed in the care and safe operation of vehicles while driving.
• Provides transportation services to the persons whose travels are approved by the concerned official.
• Verifies load against documents and hands over to the recipient unit or person at the place of destination against receipt of signature when transporting material.
• Reports to the concerned supervisor by giving detail written description of defects if major repair is required.
• Inspects the quality of maintenance performed at the time of receiving the car from the vehicle maintenance section.
• Ensures that proper loading is done while transporting materials.
• Registers mileage and fuel consumption reading on the approved transport service request forms before and after every trip and submits the same to concerned unit.
• Checks the vehicle for long distance trip when field trips are scheduled. Informs his supervisor through the radio or telephone in case of major defects during field trips.
• Reports to the traffic police immediately in case of accidents.
• Collects perdiem and provisional cash for field trips and settles up the same by producing supporting documents immediately after completing every field trip.
• Carries out minor roadside repairs such as changing tires, fixing light, greasing etc.
• Performs any other related duties as may assigned by the supervisor.
