Job Description

Position: Community Service & Cooperative Training Officer

Terms of employment:     Full time 

Accountable to: Director of Research and Community Services

Main Purpose: to bridge academic learning with real-world practice by managing student internship/apprenticeship placements and directing institutional resources toward solving local social and economic challenges.

This role serves as the central liaison between the university college, industry partners, and the surrounding community.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Cooperative & Apprenticeship Training Placement

  • Establish partnerships with external organizations, industries, NGOs, and public institutions to secure student placement slots.
  • Coordinate student internship/cooperative training schedules, MOUs, and placement monitoring.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness alongside academic departments and host organization mentors.

Community Engagement & Service

  • Identify local community needs and align them with institutional capacity, student outreach programs, and faculty initiatives.
  • Plan, organize, and track community development workshops, short-term skill trainings, and advisory services.
  • Maintain centralized records of all outreach projects and student volunteer hours.

Administration & Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly and annual operational plans, budgets, and accomplishment reports for university leadership.
  • Coordinate joint committees between the University College, industry experts, and local administration.
  • Ensure institutional compliance with national higher education and TVET training standards.

Requirements

Minimum Requirement:

  • Qualification:-  Second Degree and above (MA/MSc and above) Master’s Degree (MA) in Sociology, Social Work, Public Health, Educational Planning, Development Studies, or Public Policy and other related.
  • Computer Skill:- Microsoft excel and Microsoft word
  • Work Experience:- Minimum four (4) years and above relevant work experience in academic arears
