1. JOB SUMMARY
Under the close supervision of the immediate supervisor, the **Cleaner** is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout the center. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the center meets required cleanliness and infection prevention and control standards.
The Cleaner performs a variety of cleaning and sanitation duties to ensure that patient rooms, offices, public areas, and other assigned spaces are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 General Cleaning
- Clean patient rooms, offices, waiting areas, bathrooms, and other public and private areas of the center.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in patient rooms, corridors, offices, and other assigned areas.
- Dust and clean furniture, surfaces, fixtures, and equipment.
- Empty waste bins and replace them with clean liners.
2.2 Cleaning and Sanitation
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and medical equipment using appropriate cleaning and disinfecting materials.
- Ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are used properly in accordance with MSIE guidelines and infection prevention and control protocols.
2.3 Replenishment of Cleaning Supplies
- Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, soap dispensers, and other necessary supplies in bathrooms, patient rooms, and other designated areas.
- Inform the supervisor/immediate supervisor when supplies are running low or need to be restocked.
2.4 Waste Management
- Safely collect and dispose of general, hazardous, and medical waste in accordance with MSIE procedures.
- Ensure proper waste identification, segregation, and disposal in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
2.5 Infection Prevention and Control
- Strictly follow MSIE infection prevention and control policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Immediately report any signs of pest infestation, mold, or other hygiene-related concerns to the supervisor/immediate supervisor.
2.6 Specialized Cleaning
- Perform terminal/final cleaning of patient rooms after discharge to prepare them for the next patient.
- Clean and maintain operating rooms, recovery areas, and other specialized areas in accordance with MSIE protocols and standards.
2.7 Equipment Maintenance
- Clean and properly maintain cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, cleaning carts, and other related tools.
- Report any equipment malfunction, damage, or maintenance requirements to the supervisor promptly.
2.8 Compliance and Safety
- Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and exposure to hazards.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs related to healthcare cleaning standards, hygiene, and infection prevention and control.
Requirements
PERSON SPECIFICATION
3.1 Qualifications / Education
- Completion of **Grade 8** or equivalent.
3.2 Work Experience
- At least **two (2) years of relevant work experience**.

- Strong sense of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Physically capable of lifting, moving, carrying, scrubbing, washing, and cleaning floors, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.

- Ability to respect individual privacy and confidentiality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
