A key function of this role is to design and deliver hands-on training programs to production staff, technicians, and designated personnel on the safe and correct preparation of soap and detergent formulations. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical chemistry expertise with excellent instructional and communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Training & Instruction (Primary Focus)

  • Develop comprehensive training curricula, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for soap and detergent preparation.
  • Conduct practical, hands-on training sessions on the step-by-step manufacturing processes, including:
    • Soap preparation: saponification, cold/hot process methods, ingredient measurement, curing, and molding.
    • Detergent preparation: surfactant blending, builder incorporation, pH adjustment, viscosity control, and finishing.
  • Train staff on proper handling, measurement, and mixing of raw materials (e.g., oils, fats, alkalis, surfactants, fragrances, dyes, preservatives).
  • Instruct trainees on the correct use and maintenance of laboratory and production equipment.
  • Assess trainee competency through practical demonstrations, written tests, and on-the-job evaluations.
  • Provide refresher training and advanced workshops as needed.
  • Maintain accurate training records and issue certificates of completion.

B. Formulation & Product Development

  • Develop, optimize, and scale up soap and detergent formulations to meet product specifications and market requirements.
  • Source, evaluate, and approve raw materials and chemical ingredients.
  • Conduct compatibility and stability testing of formulations.
  • Research and introduce new formulations, eco-friendly alternatives, or cost-effective ingredient substitutions.

C. Quality Control & Assurance

  • Perform routine chemical analyses and physical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products (e.g., pH, viscosity, foaming capacity, total fatty matter, active matter content, microbiological testing).
  • Investigate and resolve product defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications.
  • Ensure all products comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., ISO, GMP, local regulatory requirements).

D. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Train all personnel on chemical safety, hazard communication (SDS/MSDS), proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure all preparation and production activities comply with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials.

E. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain batch records, formulation sheets, training logs, test reports, and technical documentation.
  • Generate regular reports on training progress, quality metrics, and production issues for management review.
