Job Summary:
The Batching Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the batching system of a ready-mix concrete plant. This includes overseeing the accurate and timely batching of concrete in accordance with prescribed mix designs and production schedules. The operator ensures compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and company policies to meet customer demands efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor batching plant equipment to produce ready-mix concrete according to set recipes and customer specifications.
- Measure and mix ingredients such as cement, sand, gravel, water, and additives in accordance with prescribed ratios and job requirements.
- Ensure the batching process meets all quality standards, and perform regular quality checks on produced concrete.
- Maintain accurate records of daily production, material usage, and delivery schedules.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of batching plant machinery and control systems.
- Coordinate with drivers and dispatchers for the timely loading and delivery of ready-mix concrete to job sites.
- Follow company and regulatory health and safety procedures during all plant operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the plant area.
- Communicate with supervisors, maintenance, and quality control teams to ensure efficient and uninterrupted production.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or technical/vocational training preferred.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a batching plant operator in a ready-mix concrete environment.
- Strong knowledge of concrete materials, mix designs, and batching procedures.
- Familiarity with automated batching systems and concrete mixing equipment.
- Good understanding of safety and quality control procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and production schedules.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Physical fitness to work in a construction or industrial environment.
Preferred Certifications (Optional):
- Certification in Concrete Technology or similar field.
- Forklift or heavy equipment operation license.
Work Environment:
- Plant-based work with exposure to cement dust, noise, and outdoor weather conditions.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn as per safety requirements.
