Job Summary
We are looking for a professional, customer-focused, and experienced Barman/Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, providing excellent guest service, maintaining bar cleanliness and hygiene, and ensuring proper control of bar stocks and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel standards and standard recipes.
- Prepare classic and signature cocktails with proper presentation and consistency.
- Serve wine, beer, spirits, cocktails, coffee, and other beverages professionally.
- Welcome guests, take beverage orders, and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
- Promote upselling and suggestive selling of beverages and bar products.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented bar area at all times.
- Ensure the bar is properly stocked with beverages, ice, glassware, garnishes, and other supplies.
- Operate the POS system and Micros accurately and ensure all sales are properly recorded.
- Handle cash and other payment methods according to hotel procedures.
- Monitor beverage consumption, stock levels, and wastage.
- Assist with daily bar inventory and report shortages or discrepancies.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, health, and safety procedures.
- Handle guest requests and complaints professionally and report issues to the supervisor when necessary.
- Follow responsible alcohol-service practices and hotel policies.
- Complete opening and closing duties according to departmental procedures.
- Maintain professional grooming and personal hygiene standards.
- Work cooperatively with the F&B team and other hotel departments.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate, Diploma, or Level II/III qualification in Hotel Operations, Food & Beverage Service, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Barman/Bartender, preferably in a 4- or 5-star hotel.
- COC certification is an advantage/required according to the hotel's recruitment standard.
- Good knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, beer, coffee, and other beverages.
- Knowledge of POS and Micros systems and basic cash-handling procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good command of English; knowledge of Amharic is required.
- Strong customer-service and upselling skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
