Job Description
Job Summary
The Associate Director of Events will be responsible for driving event acquisition, developing and implementing Events Department strategies, securing new and repeat business, and achieving or exceeding revenue targets for the hotel.
The role will oversee event sales activities, maintain strong relationships with corporate and social clients, monitor market trends and competition, manage event-related contracts and records, and support the achievement of annual business and revenue targets.
The position will also provide leadership to the Events Team, ensuring effective performance management, training, professional service delivery, and compliance with hotel policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate strategies and activities to secure new and repeat event business.
- Drive event acquisition activities and achieve or exceed forecasted revenue targets.
- Monitor banquet space inventory and identify opportunities during low-occupancy periods.
- Analyze revenue and event reports and identify business opportunities and threats.
- Maintain accurate event and catering records using relevant systems and software.
- Monitor market trends, conduct networking activities, and maintain awareness of competitors.
- Develop and maintain a strong database of corporate, social, conference, catering and repeat-event clients.
- Ensure proper booking procedures, event files, contracts and related documentation are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with credit, collection, sales and contractual procedures.
- Build and maintain relationships with conference buyers, event organizers, wedding clients and corporate customers.
- Support the planning and execution of conventions, conferences, meetings, concerts, fairs and other marketing events.
- Support the development and achievement of annual revenue and profit targets.
- Work closely with Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Food & Beverage and Operations teams on event costing and pricing.
- Set and monitor individual sales and volume targets for Events Department employees.
- Supervise, coach, train and evaluate Events Team members.
- Support recruitment and selection for the Events Department.
- Ensure effective day-to-day administration, reporting and operational processes.
- Maintain accurate electronic and manual filing systems and event records.
- Prepare relevant information and reports for management meetings.
- Ensure compliance with company and hotel policies, health and safety standards, and applicable procedures.
- Assume Duty Manager responsibilities in accordance with the hotel Duty Manager roster.

- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Event Management or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in event sales, event management, hospitality sales, MICE, conference and/or catering operations.
- At least 1–3 years of experience in a supervisory or team-management capacity is preferred.
- Proven experience in achieving sales, revenue and business development targets.
- Strong understanding of event acquisition, MICE business, conferences, meetings, weddings and corporate events.
- Experience managing client relationships and developing new and repeat business.
- Strong knowledge of sales forecasting, contracts, quotations, costing and pricing.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, networking and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, team management and performance-management skills.
- Ability to analyze sales and revenue reports and develop effective action plans.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Food & Beverage and Operations teams.
- Proficiency in relevant event management, CRM or hotel systems is an advantage.
- Professional, customer-focused and results-oriented approach.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple events and projects simultaneously.
