 Purpose of the Role

The Assessment Officer will be responsbile for receiving & reviwing the completeness & accurcacy of shipping documents, prepare draft declaration, notify duty amount to client, receive CPO & register declaration, and compile & submit the customs fulfillment documents alomg with other supporting documents for further processing.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Verify accuracy & completeness of shipping documents,
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international customs laws and proecdures,
  • Prepare & submit draft declaration for approval,
  • Notify approved duty & tax to client; follow-up & update new rate upon expiry of currency rate, and accordingly send revised duty and tax amount to client, if any
  • Register declaration,
  • Submit the compiled customs fulfillment documents to customer service team for further processing,
  • Maintain accurate digital records of all verified shipments and other supporting docuemnts on internal operation management system & Ethiopian Customs Management system.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BA Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Management, Business Management, or other fields,
  • Experience:  2–3 years of direct expereince in assessment role

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of customs laws & procedures, HS codes, and incoterms,
  • Good ability to operate in Ethiopia’s customs trade portal system,
  • Strong problem Solving ability,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English,
  • Good ability in forwarder’s operation management system,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).,
  • High drive/self-motivation,
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and strong numeracy
